Teenage Love - By Radha Kishan Is Teenage love real love? Why we all do not consider that as a serious matter? It all starts as simple attraction, develops in infatuation and develops into 'love' for teenagers. The day one enters high school for their Standard VIII, they feel they are grown ups. However, teenage love seems to start influencing the children of fifteen to sixteen. If they survive, then Seventeen to eighteen becomes tougher for them. No parent generally approves the teenage love, if they come to notice that, their child is in love. Hence the fear of parents, puts the child under tremendous pressure. And this may show on their academic growth. In fact, parents shall understand that teenage love is part of growing up and generally it is short lived. If one forces the child to get out of this 'nonsense' they tend to rebel. It is a very sensitive issue and must be handled very carefully. How the teens fall victim to teenage love? It is generally the friends in schools, or relatives of friends or family gatherings. It is also common that classmates fall in love more often. And the movies play a major role in making teens look for love around them. Movies in all languages have been produced to bring out the teenage love aspects. Latest being Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar (MP3 as it is called) is a teenage love story about a guy who is a spoilt brat and an NRI girl comes to Delhi to join a school. Different things happen and they keep falling out. And they realize that they have a crush on each other. Malayalam movie 'Pranayakamal' & Ingane Oru Nilapakshi depict teenage love. And a telugu movie, Tenth class, did very well at Box office. Similarly, Thullura Vayasu portrays infatuation that arises during the adolescent years in school. As more movies are produced, more youngsters are likely to relate themselves to the actors in the movies. Phones and mobile phones have added fuel to the fire. If the teens do not have access to telecommunication, their 'relationship' would be limited to the time they are out of the house. How often we see the teenagers getting off from their place and go to their room to talk in privacy! Teenage love is directly related to your telephone bill !! All parents notice the telephone bills going high when they have teenage children at home. It is but natural for young girls to fall for seniors in school or brothers of close friends. Your daughter who is pampered by you gets angry with small issues at home but waits patiently for some one outside the school without throwing any tantrums for her 'boy friend'. Does teenage love teach them to be patient and understanding? Not really. All this patience and understanding exists when the teenagers in love are together, once they come home, they are back to normal selves!! Teenage love is actually sex based. Its not something like a true love story. We can term teenage love as first brush with the attraction towards opposite sex. It is a passing fancy and a normal phenomenon and shall be dealt with care and not with strict hand. The parents must keep track of the company that their child is in. If one of your daughter's friends has a boy friend, the entire group gets curious to know what is happening and as the girl shares the experiences more, other girls too would live to experience the same. Similarly, the boys too would like have some fun. It is all part of teenage love and most of the time that is short lived. Hence, the parents must deal with this with utmost care.
